Duration : 22 Days
Day 01 : Delhi - Arrival in Delhi and transfer to hotel.
Day 02 : Delhi
Delhi sightseeing. Many monuments display the intricate history of this area, reminding of the past times, such as the Mughal domination or the murder of Mahatma Gandhi… (Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Raj Ghat, Purana Qila, Humayoun's tomb, India Gate...)
Day 03 : Leh - Spectacular flight from Delhi to Leh. Day at leisure for acclimatization.
Day 04 : Leh
Morning free. Afternoon visit Stok Palace, the home of Ladakhi royalty. Tour of Phyang and Spitok Gompas (Buddhist monasteries).
Day 05 : Lamayuru
Drive 120 km to Lamayuru (3,390 m). Visit the picturesque gompa on a steep hill. Camp overnight.
Day 06 : Wanla - Trek 12 km to Wanla (3,645 m). Camp overnight.
Day 07 : Hanupatta - Trek 13 km to Hanupatta (3,770 m).
Day 08 : Photoskar
Trek 12 km to reach Photoskar after crossing Sirisir La (4,230m). Photoskar is a town of clusters of houses, green fields and a gompa. Arrive and camp.
Day 09 : Marling - Trek 11 km to reach Marling (3,825 m) after crossing Boumitse La (4,200 m).
Day 10 : Singi La - Lingshet
Climb and descent through a steep glacier. You will reach Lingshet after crossing Singi La, "the Lion's Pass", which is the highest pass of this trek (5,230 m).
Day 11 : Snertse
Trek 14 km to Snertse (3,800 m) after crossing Hanuma La (4,700 m). Wonderful campsite.
Day 12 : Hanumil
After a small descent to Oma Chu River, there is a steep climb to Purfi La Pass (3,900 m). Descent to Hanumil.
Day 13 : Pishu - Trek to Pishu (3,665 m) through Padmi, along the Zanskar River.
Day 14 : Karsha
Continue along the Zanskar to Karsha (3,610 m). En route visit Thonda Gompa.
Day 15 : Padum
Before living Karsha, visit 15th century Gelumpa Monastery (popularly known as Karsha Gompa), which dominates the scene. Start your last day trek to Padum, crossing the Doda river (4 hrs). Padum is the capital of Zanskar.
Day 16 : : Kargil - Drive 240 km to Kargil, the gateway to Kashmir.
Day 17 : Srinagar
Relaxed morning in Kargil.
After lunch, drive to Srinagar (230 km),
the nonchalant capital of Kashmir where we have arranged for the best houseboat rentals in India. Overnight in comfortable houseboat (floating house on the Dal Lake).
Day 18 : Srinagar - Mughal Gardens
Relaxed morning. After lunch, boat excursion on the Dal Lake, on board of a shikara: visit Hazratbal Mosque, floating vegetables gardens, and Mughal Gardens (built by Mughal emperors who loved the fresh climate of Kashmir).
Day 19 : Gulmarg
Full day trip (with packed lunch) to Gulmarg, "the meadow of flowers" (56 km from Srinagar). Gulmarg has one of the best ski slopes and one of the highest golf courses (18 holes) in the world. You can trek or ride a pony up to Khilanmarg in about 3 hrs, or take the Gondola Lift for mountain rides. Enjoy a view of Nanga Parbat and K2 (if the weather permits).
Day 20 : Pahalgam
Full day trip to Pahalgam, "the valley of shepherds" (96 km from Srinagar). En route, enjoy the beautiful countryside and visit the saffron fields of Pampore (the only place in India where saffron is grown). In Pahalgam, visit Awantipura Ruins, an 1100 years old temple of lord Vishnu.
Enjoy your packed lunch on the banks of the Lidder stream. If you like fishing, try to catch a rainbow trout…. Later, walk along pony trails with a magnificent view of the mountains.
Day 21 : Srinagar
Relaxed day
in Srinagar: laze around on the houseboat terrace of the comfortable houseboat rentals offered in Kashmir, India or board a shikara, and go shopping in the city. You can find the most beautiful Kashmiri carpets, real pashmina shawls, lovely clothes and cricket bats, for cheap prices.
Day 22 - Transfer to airport for the return flight.
