Kashmir is an angler's paradise, with a network of rivers and streams as well as high altitude lakes all abounding in trout - both brown and rainbow. Do not think that fishing in Kashmir is the somewhat somnolent sport that it can be elsewhere, for the trout is a crafty fish...
If you are adventurous, this trek will take you to the best places to fish: the five high altitude lakes (Vishansar - Kishansar - Satsar - Gadsar - Gangabal). All located above 4,500 m, snow-clad mountains in spectacular scenery cradle them. In these lakes, the use of spoons and spinners is allowed; you can also enjoy fly-fishing in the fast streams that you will cross.
We will provide you all the required equipment for trekking and fishing (trekking and fishing permits, tent, sleeping bag, fishing material, provisions...). Your bag will be carried by horses, which you can also ride whenever you feel tired...
Drive from Srinagar to Sonamarg (95 km), and spend a night in Sonamarg. Start trekking the next morning, to enjoy few days of intense practice : don't forget that it is not easy to catch a rainbow trout...
