Travel Guide

How to plan a trip to India?

  1. Choose your destination in India:
    • It will take you several trips to discover India: don't plan too much! See our trip suggestions.
    • Local transport might be slower than elsewhere: your average speed drive will be 50 km per hour.
    • Check local weather conditions at the time you plan to go, as well as health and safety recommendations.

  2. Book your tour :
    • Your international flight ticket will be cheaper if bought in your country of departure.
    • India Peacock Travel offers tailor-made or package tours. We help you to build and conceive a itinerary.

  3. Organize your travel documents:
    • Your passport must be valid at least 6 months after your visa application date.
    • Apply in advance for your visa in your country of residence.
    • We recommend you to foresee an cancellation insurance. (Your bank card allows you maybe to benefit from such an insurance if you use this method of payment).
    • While on tour, keep a copy of these documents with you (photocopy or scan), in case they are lost or stolen.

  4. Plan your finances:
    • Cash or traveler cheques: Euros and Dollars can be easily changed against Rupees in India.
    • Credit cards are usually a safe payment tool. You can find many ATM opened 24 hours.
    • Keep separately big amounts from small banknotes for your daily expenses. Avoid transporting too much money.

  5. Before departure:
    • Pack your luggage but don't overload it (see our packing list).
    • Foresee light clothes, (cotton, linen), and protection against the sun, (glasses, cap or hat, cream).
    • To note that women and men have to carry long dresses to visit Mosques. For the women, a veil scarf will be rigorous (even small).
    • Reconfirm your flight details and timing with your travel agent. ( Number, date and hours of the flight).

  6. Keep in touch:
    • Tell your relatives about your travel dates and intended itinerary. Let them know how they can reach you (email or phone numbers in India with international code: +91).
    • Prepare a list of important phone numbers to be kept with you (of your relatives, embassy and travel agent).

  7. Luggage:
    • Think of labelling your suitcases with your address of residence and the address of your travel agency in India.
    • Keep in cabin the important effects and the medicines if you take a treatment.

Have a nice trip!
